Family friendly
With endless land and opportunities in and around Mansfield, there are plenty of great spots to pack up the family for fishing, camping and exploring the land. Head to the local zoo to get up close with your favourite animals, or get lost at in the High Country Maze surrounded by landscaped gardens ideal for a picnic.
Never short of fun, fireworks, parades, street theatre, markets and music – Mansfield is home to a number of annual festivals – including Mansfield High Country Festival for artistic folk, Lake Eildon Festival for all things boats, demonstrations and stunts on the water, and the popular Lantern Festival in June for the winter solstice.
For those who love agriculture, the Mansfield Agricultural Show in November is a fantastic day out for the family, with rides, wood chopping, farmers challenge, animals, exhibitions, trade stalls, sheep shearing, working dogs in action and lots of delicious food stalls offering some of the best local produce.
For the Foodie
Nothing beats fresh local produce, a roam around the Mansfield Farmers Markets held monthly, along with a number of other local markets should inspire the creative cook. If the kitchen isn’t your forte, take your pick from a number of delicious cafes, bistros and restaurants. If you enjoy a good drop, Delatite Wines and Nillahcootie Estate might take your fancy.
Outdoor Adventure
Surrounded by stunning scenery and the Great Dividing Range, Mansfield is the perfect spot to take up skiing or hiking. If a more laidback approach is more your style you can gaze down the golf course at the beautiful mountain ranges. If you’re looking for excitement, rev the adrenalin with a quad bike tour, water skiing, wakeboarding, mountain biking, hunting and boating.
Go the distance with a cycling tour along the Great Victorian Rail trail covering 130 kilometres along the old railway between Tallarook and Mansfield, or saddle a horse and go for a trail ride with a range of offering to suit all skill levels. Enjoy the fresh air with a hot air balloon ride or helicopter charter around the alps.
